James Haidak: Boston Celtics
James Haidak has been a longtime admirer of the Boston Celtics, one of the most successful American professional basketball teams competing in the National Basketball Association (NBA).
Since their founding in 1946, the Boston Celtics have gone on to dominate the sport. So far, they’ve won 17 NBA Championships. They’re known for phenomenal achievements, such as winning the NBA Finals against their rivals, the Los Angeles Lakers, nine out of twelve times. They’ve broken numerous basketball records and continue to be a favorite among fans of the sport.
James Haidak has been watching the Boston Celtics ever since he fell in love with basketball at a young age. He remains intrigued by team’s history, from its rise to fame in the 1950s thanks to superstars Bill Russell and Bob Cousy, to its many feuds with contending teams between the 1960s and 1980s, to its most recent triumphs.
James Haidak is just as enamored with the team’s legendary players, four of whom secured NBA’s Most Valuable Player (MVP) Award. His particular favorites include the aforementioned Russell and Cousy; Tom Heinsohn, Sam Jones, and John Havlicek, who in the 60s helped the team claim eight NBA championship titles consecutively; Larry Bird, Robert Parish, and Kevin McHale, who helped win the championship in 1981, 1984, and 1986; and Ray Allen, Paul Pierce, and Kevin Garnett, whose remarkable athleticism led to their 2008 victory.
James Haidak is eager to see how the most recent iteration of the Boston Celtics—which is led by head coach Brad Stevens and boasts celebrated players such as Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum—will fare in the current basketball landscape.
